Job Description

The Assistant Director will be responsible for managing the study abroad programs, including institutional exchanges, faculty-led programs, virtual programs, research abroad, global internships, and scholarly exchange. The Assistant Director will support the development of dual degree programs and the delivery of academic, professional, and technical programs to our strategic global partners through the CSN Global Programs. The Assistant Director will develop and support strategic partnerships,

The oversight of education abroad and global engagement will require a strategic vision to working with the CSN academic community. The Assistant Director will lead the strategic planning while supporting the development of policy and procedures related to crisis management, program development, financial management, office administration, student advising, and faculty and student health and safety. The Assistant Director will support the development of dual degree programs and the delivery of academic, professional, and technical programs to our strategic global partners through the CSN Global Programs. The Assistant Director will work with our Office of Technology Services to enhance global collaboration and programming.

The Assistant Director will provide direct support and leadership to the CSN community. The incumbent will report directly to the Director of International Programs and is expected to play a role in expanding all international and global initiatives, including the internationalization of CSN.

Other responsibilities of the role include:

  • Ensure consistently CSN's high standards for international programs and global engagement.

  • Provide leadership and vision for ongoing development of international programs.

  • Work with the Study Abroad Committee and faculty to develop and facilitate faculty study abroad/away; review all Faculty-Led Study Abroad proposals for any risk management issues.

  • Design and present study abroad pre-departure orientation for students covering safety and security.

  • Develop and manage relationships with partner universities, governments, and other stakeholders.

  • Primary point of contact for emergency actions regarding Flagler students, faculty, or staff overseas.

  • Provide leadership regarding immigration policies and compliance standards and protocols.

  • Provide leadership regarding immigration policies and compliance standards and protocols for U.S. Department of State's J-1 Exchange Visitor Program.

  • Develop and lead international activities on campus throughout the year to enrich the global atmosphere and learning opportunities for CSN students and faculty.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and five years of related or comparable professional experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of related or comparable managerial experience.

  • Demonstrated diversity and inclusion experience, with sensitivity to cultural differences.

  • Experience in program design, development, and execution.

  • Understanding of academic degree program requirements.

  • Experience in project management.

  • Demonstrated experience in finance and budget management.

  • Strong leadership skills and experience.

  • Ability to travel locally, nationally, and international to represent CSN with international partners, potential partners, and key stakeholders at national and international conferences, lead study abroad trips, and identify/cultivate CSN partnerships.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in international travel and participation in an exchange or study abroad programs.

  • Living and work abroad.

  • Familiarity with policies and procedures for international and global initiatives.

  • Experience in negotiating contracts and grant writing and grant management.

  • Master's Degree or other advanced degree in a related field.

  • Substantial related management experience in higher education administration.

  • Familiarity with Terra Dotta or other similar systems.

  • Specific expertise in immigration law and regulations, such as experience with SEVIS and working with visa requirement from other countries.

  • Proficiency in communicating in one or more widely spoken language in addition to English.
