Position description
UC Santa Barbara Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE) integrates the academic excellence of the University of California with practical, career-relevant education in a premier Southern California location. PaCE's International Programs provide selected students from around the world with the opportunity to experience U.S. college life while enhancing their education and skills through customized, specialized coursework. In this context, the PaCE Director of International Programs (Continuing Educator II) is responsible for the independent administration, management, development, and coordination of all International Programs offered by PaCE. The incumbent serves as PaCE's primary liaison with international partners and universities. Furthermore, the Director of International Programs provides strategic leadership and oversight of PaCE's international initiatives, aligning programs with institutional goals while advising leadership on growth, collaboration, and operational efficiency. They supervise staff and program operations, oversee the development and assessment of academic and co-curricular offerings, and ensure effective admissions, student support, and communication processes to promote student success. The Director leads recruitment and outreach efforts by establishing policies, developing strategies to meet enrollment targets, managing partnerships with international institutions and agencies, and collaborating on marketing materials. Additionally, they monitor recruitment effectiveness, coordinate across departments, and manage data, budgeting, reporting, and financial planning to support sustainable program growth.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
- Master's degree in a related field
- 5+ years of administrative experience in academia, with 5-8 years in a director role managing international education programs
Preferred qualifications
- Strong expertise in international education, knowledge of global education models, strategic thinking, intercultural communication, risk assessment, and program management;
- Proven ability to build relationships globally and work effectively across divisions
- Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and oral/written communication skills. Intercultural experiences, particularly as reflected in study, research, living, or working abroad;
- Experience with self-supporting programs;
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, implementation, and support;
- Experience in strategic planning and managing complex, global service-driven programs.
