The standard teaching load for this position is two 4-unit courses per semester with an additional third course every fourth semester (2-2-2-3 over two years). In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to engage in service to the department, college, and university, as well as maintain an active research program that engages both undergraduate and graduate students when possible.

Minimum Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants whose work centers on refugees and/or migration, but we are also interested in scholars whose work takes on issues around indigeneity and/or race/intersectionality in a global perspective. We especially welcome applications from scholars with an activist perspective, who use mixed research methods and we are interested in candidates who can articulate a global-local connection with their scholarly work and are able to bring community-engaged learning into their teaching. We welcome scholars from all areas of the world who are committed to empowering minority and marginalized communities. Though all geographical areas of expertise are welcome, we are particularly interested in applicants with a regional expertise in Latin America or the Islamicate/MENA. Lived experience and linguistic fluency related to the regional expertise are strongly preferred.

Applicants must have earned their doctorate by August 1, 2021 and have two years of university teaching experience beyond serving as a teaching assistant. Previous university service experience is strongly preferred as the successful candidate will be expected to take on academic advising and university service within their first year. Applicants should articulate a commitment to interdisciplinary exploration and applied research with a demonstrated ability to work across disciplines and a collaborative orientation. Candidates must have a strong record of teaching at the university level, evidence of research scholarship and an active research agenda, administrative experience, dedication to service, and an understanding of, and commitment to, supporting the mission of USF.

To Apply: All applicants should submit the following:

(4) Evidence of teaching ability, including two sample syllabi, student evaluations, and a statement of teaching philosophy, including how diverse and previously marginalized perspectives are integrated into coursework (maximum two pages, double spaced)

(5) Description of research agenda (three pages, double spaced)

(6) Sample of recently published or forthcoming research (maximum of 25 pages)

(7) Three current letters of recommendation
