About the Position:
Extension and International Programs (EIP) collaborates with University departments and colleges on unique programs for students from the community and around the world. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Director of International Programs and Outreach. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

The Director of International Programs and Outreach at California State University, Fullerton (Cal State Fullerton) leads a strategic, growth-oriented, data-driven international outreach and recruitment plan within the Extension and International Programs (EIP) unit aimed at business opportunities, innovative programming, and revenue generation. The Director creates training and workforce development programs for international student populations; leads international student recruitment strategies for exchange and incoming students, including the USA program and new initiatives; conducts ROI assessment for international partnerships; and works in collaboration with EIP Marketing to raise visibility and promote value proposition for international students and internal stakeholders. The Director leads an International Student Services team and ensures compliance with immigration regulations and fosters a culture of belonging for international learners enrolled in all programs.

The Director oversees a range of study abroad programming and collaborates with the Cal State Fullerton community, including academic colleges, risk management, external partners and providers, and more. This role serves as a representative externally to international partners, providers, agents, funding entities, and regional organizations. The Director gathers and tracks data and advises the Dean for Extension and Associate Vice President for International Programs on international markets and recruitment and enrollment management trends and uses data to inform the development and launch of globally-relevant workforce development opportunities. This role identifies and secures systems (CMS, Terra Dotta, etc.) needed to manage and govern all international students and relationships.

The Director also conducts ongoing assessment to measure the impact of exchange and study abroad programs and promotes opportunities based on the outcomes. This role will manage the financial models that govern international outreach and engagement activities, actively seek funding opportunities, and partner with philanthropic and government relation units to leverage the potential for greater access for new and current international populations. The Director will seek ways to integrate international strategy with the university's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) goals. The Director will also remain knowledgeable about the California State University (CSU) polices, processes, systems, and stakeholders and serve on the Senate International Education Committee and other relevant forums. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
Masters degree from an accredited college or university. Seven or more years of experience working with international outreach, preferably in a higher education setting.

Ability to conduct trend analyses and analyze data to inform strategy and present findings in compelling formats for a diversity of internal and external stakeholders. Understanding of regulations pertaining to F-1 and J visa students. Proven record in meeting metric-driven recruitment or sales targets. Demonstrated track record in bringing programs from the point of ideation to development to launch followed by ongoing assessment using agreed upon success metrics. Be self-motivated and work independently with limited direct supervision, including willingness/desire to work non-traditional hours, including evenings/weekends. Strong intercultural communication skills and an ability to communicate with international students, parents, and educational partners. Ability to successfully and effectively collaborate and maintain positive relationships with a diverse population of teammates, business partners, and stakeholders. Excellent analytical, organizational, reasoning, and problem-solving skills and attention to detail, as well as strong computer literacy (CMS, presentation tools, and enrollment management platforms). Exhibit strong results orientation and be a data-driven decision maker

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.


Preferred Qualifications:
Ten plus years as an international recruitment and outreach leader. Five plus years proven track record of developing and launching successful international training programs. Experience with California Public Higher Education system, including CBA. Three plus years managing P&L for a growth-oriented unit.
