About the Position:
The Office of Admissions is responsible for determining student eligibility for admission to the University, processes and evaluates applications and transcripts, determining residency status, and reviewing appeals for exception to University Policy. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the International Evaluator (Evaluator II). This is an exciting opportunity for technically savvy, helpful, resourceful individuals looking to take the next step to further their career in a dynamic field that is essential to the success of the University. Under the general direction of the Director and Associate Director of Admissions, the International Evaluator evaluates International graduate and undergraduate applications for admission to California State University, Fullerton. Provides advising services on university admission policies for prospective International students. Determines institution accreditation, evaluates credential equivalency and associated equivalent grade point average (GPA). Maintains extensive knowledge of the many varied educational systems throughout the world. Prepares system performance reports. Provides preliminary transcript reviews for students and agents. Develops and maintains standardized procedures and business processes. Works as a team member in evaluating all applicants for admission. Other duties as assigned.
Two years of academic records evaluation experience with the full scope of responsibility for making decisions regarding eligibility for the granting of degrees. Completion of a formal training program in academic records evaluation may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Thorough knowledge of resource and documentation processes, as well as knowledge of organizing and assigning the work of a group. Ability to interpret and apply criteria related to unusual cases. Ability to organize and manage workloads. Ability to explain and interpret the application of complex regulations, requirements, and criteria to individual students and faculty members. Ability to safeguard the confidentiality and security of student records. Ability to be responsible for all aspects of functional assignments. Ability to instruct and lead the work of others in evaluation processes.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
Previous experience working in a higher education setting, with International student applications in the Admissions Office.
